Jellybeans!

Happy Friday!  We started off our day by making our letter Ee alphabet booklet page (Easter egg Ee).  We are getting close to completing our alphabet booklets.  There are just a few more letters left to learn!

Those that finished early worked on the fine motor skills of coloring within the lines while making monkeys with pictures of our faces!  They will be used as decorations in the gym for the jungle-themed Sock Hop this year!  We can't wait to see if you can find their monkey hidden in the jungle decorations!

During circle time, we read another rhyming story!  We love rhyming in 4K!

We also worked on visual memory skills and vocabulary while playing a "What's Missing? Easter Bunny" game.  This game always makes us laugh a lot!

When we went to get our Easter baskets that we had made earlier in the week, they were missing!  We had to go on a hunt in the classroom for our Easter baskets.  They were hidden in tricky places!  Everyone practiced being a good friend.  When we found a basket that did not belong to us, we made sure not to ruin the surprise for our friends.  What great friends we are!  We were surprised to find some special treats, stickers, and a pencil in our baskets when we looked at them on the carpet!

There were some special eggs with designs on them in our baskets.  We learned some new words to describe some of the designs, such as plaid, striped, spotted, zig zag, and solid.  Then we sorted the eggs by design and talked about the concepts of more, less, and a tie.

In our baskets, there was a special egg.  We took that egg to the table and then opened it.  There were jellybeans in it!  We did some special jellybean activities using the jellybeans in our eggs!  First we sorted the jellybeans by color and then filled in a graph with how many of each jellybean we had.  This was similar to the egg sorting activity that we did together on the carpet!  Everyone enjoyed telling me which colors they had the most of and least of.

Then we did a color and counting rhyme together using 5 of our jellybeans.  We were excited to get to taste the different colors of jellybeans!

We also spent some time playing and were busily involved in our play today.

Playing with blocks, cars, trucks, and tools:

Playing in the sensory table:

Taking on different roles in the "All About Eggs Diner" dramatic play area:

Pretending to be moms to the babies:

Playing "teacher" and with the magnetic blocks:

Our leprechaun "hair" has grown very tall!  We took them outside to give them "hair cuts."  It was so much fun!  Please make sure to take your child's "leprechaun" out of his/her backpack tonight so that the grass hair stays alive!  We talked about how it needs sunlight and water to continue to grow!

Then we spent some time playing outside!

Inside our classroom, we played a bunny hop game.  It made us very tired!  We were shown a card and had to identify the letter or number.  Whenever a bunny card appeared, we had to stand up and do 3 bunny hops!  We love pretending to be bunnies!

We also worked on self-control and listening skills while dancing to an egg shaker song.  Whenever the music stopped, we had to stop shaking our eggs.  We also had to listen to the directions in the song.  Sometimes the song told people with only certain colored eggs to shake.  Other times it told us to do silly things like shake the eggs behind our backs, up high, in front of our noses, and down low.  It was so much fun that we had to do it at least two times!

What a fun, exciting, and eventful day we had!  Remember that we are on "spring break" Friday and Monday!  I look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday!  Have a fantastic spring break! :)
