Rabbits

We started off our Monday by making bunny headbands to use later in the day.

Then it was playtime!  The sensory table had Easter grass and hidden eggs in it.

Today was the debut of the "All About Eggs Diner" during playtime and it was extremely popular!  It was so nice to see all of the different roles each child took on as they utilized teamwork!  There were cooks, dishwashers, waiters/waitresses, cashiers, and customers.  What fun!  While looking at the menus, they discovered that there are many different ways to eat eggs: scrambled, hard boiled, deviled, and so much more!  We were excited that when we "cracked" the eggs open, out came the yolk!

There was a collective groan when it was time to clean-up, but we are all excited to play again tomorrow!  We learned our new nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty" and even sang a song about Humpty Dumpty!

During circle time, we read a rhyming story about five little bunnies.

Then we put on our bunny headbands and acted out the story.  It was a lot of fun!  Of course, we also had to take some class pictures for our memory books!

We also learned the song "Little Bunny Foo Foo."  Then we talked about whether Little Bunny Foo Foo was being a good friend.  We also talked about reasons he may have chosen not to be a good friend.  Then we read different versions of the story.  We compared and contrasted the stories to the song.

One of the versions we read told the "true story" of Little Bunny Foo Foo.  It showed the reasons why Little Bunny Foo Foo chased the field mice.  See if your child can tell you why.  We got to see another perspective and also spent some time talking about using our words instead of our hands when we are upset or don't like something that someone does.

Click below to listen to one story version of the song.

During centers, we made our own rabbit baskets.  Everyone is hoping that one day when they come to school, the baskets will be magically filled!

Ms. Palmer also came in for centers.  We talked about how each one of us is special and we made a special rabbit with our picture in it to display.

Miss McCabe played different versions of bingo (uppercase letters, lowercase letters, or beginning sounds) with some of us during centers.

After snack, we met our new feely phonic friend, elephant e.

We learned all sorts of words that begin with Ee, such as envelope, eagle, egg, enormous, eggplant, exit, and enter.  Then we went on a hunt throughout our school to find Exit signs!  Did you know we have two "Exit" signs in our classroom?  By the end of our walk throughout the school, we had found around 25 Exit signs!  Wow!

We also had a great time playing outside!

Have a great evening! :)
