Square Pumpkins?!

Happy Friday!! Today was a busy day as usual. We began our day by either coloring "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater", patterning, or making a pumpkin P. We all did great with our patterning and we love finding patterns around our room!
The story that we read today was "The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin". All of the pumpkins in the pumpkin patch are round, but not Spookley. He is a square and he doesn't always fit in with the rest of pumpkins but when a storm comes and all of the other pumpkins roll away, Spookley saves the day! We thought it would be really cool to see a pumpkin patch with different shaped pumpkins but we know that pumpkins are really just round.
We got to make our own Spookley today! We cut out a shape of our choice and got to make a face out of shapes. Then we counted how many of each shape we used. We got to see what shape we used the most.
We also learned the song "Spooky Walk" today. We loved it! It is similar to the song "We are going on a Bear Hunt". This could be our new favorite song.
For snack, we got to try Pumpkin Seeds. About half of each class liked them, and the other half didn't. We made a graph to see who liked/didn't like the seeds. We also got to eat Popcorn for snack to conclude our "P" week.
Finally, we got to see what our friends brought in their "Mystery Bags". They brought so much stuff that starts with "P"! Some of the things they brought were: pencil, popcorn, pink, purple, pony, picture, and penny. It was a lot of fun guessing what they brought.

Finally, we learned the song "Who took the Pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch?" We had fun guessing who took the pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. In the end, it was Miss McCabe that took the pumpkin! She ate it and said it was delicious!! Silly Miss McCabe :)

Here are some pictures from center time/play time:

Have a great weekend!
