The Grinch!

This morning our elf was hard to find!  We looked all over for him, but couldn't seem to find him.  Miss McCabe suggested that maybe if we worked really hard on our projects at the table, he may magically appear.  That's just what happened!  Suddenly as we were working, we looked up and saw the elf sitting by our flag!  We couldn't believe how high up he was!

During circle time, we read How the Grinch Stole Christmas!  We really enjoyed reading the story.

When Miss McCabe asked how many people had seen the cartoon version of the story, very few children had.  This was surprising as most children in past years had seen it!  While Miss McCabe had not planned on showing it today, we altered our plans for the day to watch it on the SMART Board since it is a very short movie.  In the afternoon, technology prevented us from seeing it all, but we'll try to finish it another day this week!

We also played a counting game together.  The Grinch took all of the presents away and we had to try to get them back!  We drew number cards to tell us how many presents to take back.  When our sheet was full, we won!

We also made our own Grinch today!  On the smile, we needed to draw a picture of ways to make the Grinch happy instead of grumpy!  Many of us thought of ideas like giving him gifts, a hug, smiling at him, and telling him jokes.

During the story, we were fascinated that the Grinch turned his dog Max into a reindeer!  Miss McCabe used the SMART Board to show us how to draw a reindeer!  We drew along in our journals.  Then we went back to the tables to add color and details.  They all turned out so unique!

We also sorted toys by beginning sound again today!  We are getting good at this!

There were also birthday celebrations in both sessions today.  We had so much fun playing with the birthday toys at playtime!

Several children also enjoy stopping by to say "hello" to our feely phonic letters each day!

We also played outside again!

Whew!  What a busy day!

I just want to remind you to send in classroom gifts by Thursday so we can make sure that there is a gift for everyone to open on Friday.  Also please remember that book check-out will be done on Thursday this week.  With all of the special activities on Friday, we won't have time to do book check-out that day this week.  That is why we will do it on Thursday instead!

Have a fantastic evening!
