Snowflakes

Happy Friday!  We started off our day with our arrival activities.

Then we played!

We learned that snowflakes have 6 sides and that no two snowflakes are alike while reading a story about a snowflake that really wanted to be part of a snowman.  We also read Ten on the Sled, which was a little like the song "Ten in the Bed" that we learned in November.

Then we played a snowflake number game on the SMART Board!  We had to try to figure out where the snowman was hiding.  We love using the SMART Board!

During centers, we worked on identifying shapes.  Our main focus was on triangle and rectangle since those are shapes that are easily confused by most children.  We had to cut out several triangles and rectangles and glue them on the paper to make trees.  Then we painted snow to make a beautiful winter picture!

Ms. Palmer also worked with some of us on a variety of projects.

We also explored the activities at independent centers.

Both classes enjoyed acting out the song "Five Little Snowmen" today!  It has quickly become a class favorite!  (A side note: Several children were without hats today.  Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor clothing.)

In the afternoon, we shared some more stories that were written at the writing center.  One story was about a snowman that melted when the sun came out.  Another story was about different foods a dad makes.

Have a great weekend!
