Sound

Happy Friday!  We were so excited to have another "backwards day" today!  First we started off our day with arrival activities.

Then we played in a variety of areas!

We talked about our sense of hearing today!  During circle time, we read the story The Listening Walk.  Then we listened to the sounds we heard in our classroom, such as the air blowing from the heating vents, the squeak of Miss McCabe's rocking chair, and the noise from the clock.

Ms. Palmer came in for centers.  We played her favorite game - listening bingo!  To play this game, we had to listen carefully to the different sounds she played.  Then we had to figure out what was making that sound and mark it on our cards.  It was a lot of fun!

Miss McCabe also played some number and counting games with some of us!  In the afternoon, Mrs. Garlieb volunteered in our classroom!

We also visited independent centers!

We also shared our mystery bags!  There were a lot of trucks and tractors, but we also had some unusual items, such as toilet paper, a tack, toothbrush, and toothpaste!

Then we got out our sound shakers that we had made earlier in the week.  We listened to the sounds they made and realized that each shaker made a different noise, depending on what was in it - rice, noodles, or beans.  Everybody enjoyed guessing what was inside each person's shaker.  Then we used our listening ears and shakers while dancing to "The Freeze."  Every time the music stopped, we also stopped playing our shakers and froze.  It was a lot of fun!

Tonight was the Meeme movie night and several of us were excited to stay after school to watch the movie with the "big kids."  We had a great time watching "The Jungle Book."  We even had juice and popcorn in the gym as an intermission break!

Enjoy the weekend! :)
