Busy Days

The busy days of December are nearly upon us!  We have been busy getting ready for all the big events that go on at our school in December!  For arrival, we used winter stamps to decorate tissue paper, drew in our journals, and made shape snowflakes.  These activities will be rotated through each table this week.

We read some more winter stories!  Sneezy the Snowman was an especially funny story!  Sneezy was cold so he drank hot cocoa, sat in a hot tub, and visited a bonfire, but all of those melted him!  Some children came along and let him wear some of their warm clothing.  Then he felt warm and wanted to take the clothing off.  The children told him that they had a better idea - eating ice cream!  Sneezy ate some ice cream and was neither too hot nor too cold!  We were excited to realize that ice cream starts with the letter Ii!

We also played a stocking rhyming game where we had to use the clue on the front of the stocking to guess what was inside!  The clues on the front always rhymed with whatever was inside the stocking.

In the morning, Mrs. Brouwer volunteered in our classroom!  She helped us paint some large murals to hang up in the gym for the holiday program!  We will also paint large murals in the afternoon session soon.  It is always easier to do a big project like this when there is an extra set of hands available! :)

We also used our fine motor skills to sew some stockings to display at school.  The exciting part was using the glitter glue to write our names!  We are hoping that a special visitor will come to school to fill our stockings!

We also spent some time at independent centers.  Creating decorations for the Christmas tree is still especially popular!

We made hot chocolate to drink with our snack!  The highlight was adding mini marshmallows!  We are glad that we aren't snowmen because then we couldn't drink hot cocoa.  Instead, we would need to drink cold cocoa so we wouldn't melt like the snowman in our story!

Then it was playtime!

We also shared some of the stories that children wrote while at the writing center.

In the afternoon, we also spent a little bit of time outside.

Have a great evening!
