Constellations

Today we learned all about constellations and what they are!  We learned that a constellation is a group of stars that when connected form a picture in the sky!  Upon arrival, we made our own constellation viewers.  First we decorated them with markers and star stickers.  Then we used a push pin to poke holes in some black tissue paper that we taped onto the decorated tube.  Ms. Behnke shone a flashlight in them and we got to see all the neat designs on the wall!

Ms. Behnke read us a neat story about constellations.  We got to see some of the pictures that different constellations in the sky form!  The best part was that the constellations in the book glowed in the dark!  We got to turn off the lights to see them glow!  We also practiced identifying shapes using glow in the dark stars that were hung up to form different shape constellations!
During centers, everybody got to work with Miss McCabe on making name constellations!  We got to use our fine motor skills to use a push pin to form our names!  It was hard work!  Then we used a flashlight to shine them on the wall!

We also enjoyed visiting some of our independent centers!

We have been doing a great job of using the tongs to count out our snack onto the numbers on our snack mats!
During playtime, we enjoyed exploring a variety of areas!  The tools were especially popular in the afternoon session.

We learned some new songs that were both in Spanish and English!
Of course, we had to do another Pete the Cat activity since that is the special story that we are enjoying so much at school!  We practiced our colors with Pete the Cat by playing a game.  Everybody got a turn to roll the dice to see what color to make each of Pete the Cat's shoes.  We did a great job identifying the colors and finding the correct color of marker or crayon to use!

It was great to see everybody at parent-teacher conferences!  Thank you for making the time to come to school!
