Shape Alien, Shape Alien, Munch, Munch, Munch...

Despite the rainy weather, we had a great day at school!  After finishing our arrival activities, we listened to the song/story Hush, Little Alien by Daniel Kirk.  It was very calming!  We were excited to use the SMART Board to project the story so that the pictures were bigger!

We discussed different feelings the alien had in the story and then learned a new song!  It was similar to the song "If You're Happy and You Know It," but used different emotions.  We had fun pretending to be happy, angry, sad, scared, excited, tired, and silly!  Tomorrow each child will get to bring home a monster feelings game to play!
During centers, we worked on our shapes and colors while making a shape alien booklet.  See if your child can read it to you at home!

We also enjoyed independent centers!
 ABC (literacy) center
 Computer center
 Art center
 Writing center
 Playdough center

 Math center activities

Rocket bowling at the surprise center
 Games and puzzles center

After snack, we had playtime and played in a variety of areas!  Miss McCabe forgot to take pictures during playtime today!  To end our day, we learned the game "Little Mouse, Little Mouse."  It is a color game where we have to try to figure out what color house the mouse was hiding under.  We played the game on the SMART Board in the morning, but the technology wasn't working in the afternoon so we may try it again tomorrow!

Then we got out our journals and recorded what color house we would hide the mouse under!  We're starting to get really good at recognizing our colors! :)

We also did some songs.  The morning session loves doing the number and shape songs on the SMART Board!  The afternoon session wanted to revisit Pete the Cat again!
Remember to wear purple and white or Kiel Raider apparel for homecoming tomorrow!
