We Like Outer Space!

Happy Friday!  We started off our day with arrival activities - book bins, journals, and star color sorting.

Miss McCabe helped prepare us for a practice fire drill.  We learned why it's important to practice, but that our school is a safe place so we don't need to be scared if the fire alarm goes off at school.  We even read a story to help us prepare for it!  None of us knew when the fire alarm would go off so it was a surprise when it went off in the morning session!  We did a great job getting out of school safely and going to our meeting place!  The afternoon session will get a chance to practice a fire drill another time, but we still talked about what to do if the fire alarm does go off.

We spent some time reviewing what we learned about outer space.  Miss McCabe read the story I Like Outer Space.  Then she introduced the Lite Brite.  Some of us chose to make constellations and designs on the Lite Brite today!
During centers, we made an astronaut booklet that reviewed some of the things we might see in outer space!  It was great practice for coloring in the lines!  See if your child can read it to you!

We also spent time at independent centers.

We ate some delicious applesauce for snack and then enjoyed some play time.

Then we reviewed our Pete the Cat story.  Miss McCabe made up her own version of the Pete the Cat story!  We had to use our good listening ears to hear what Pete stepped in to know what color to make each of his shoes!  It was silly!
In the morning, playing catch with the ball outside was in high demand!

Enjoy the weekend!
