Happy Monday! Today we started to learn a little bit about the planets in our solar system! Upon arrival, we colored some planets to use to create a solar system later in the day.
During centers we got to finger paint! It was a lot of fun to draw in the finger paint and make neat designs! Then we stuck our pictures that we colored onto the wet paint to make our own solar systems!
We also learned about how to use the games center! Miss McCabe taught us how to play a planet memory game! It was so much fun!
The listening center was also introduced today! It was a popular center so we have been practicing taking turns! Those that did not get a turn at that center today will get a turn there sometime this week!
Of course, we also spent some time at the other centers we have already learned about - math, playdough, and writing centers.
We read a story about the solar system and learned some interesting facts about the planets, such as Saturn's rings are made of ice and that Jupiter is a big ball of gas that is bigger than all the planets combined! We also focused on the number zero and read the story Zero is the Leaves on the Tree. Ask your child to tell you what the number zero means! Then it was time to practice walking in a line to get our milk for snack!
We had lots of playtime today! Miss McCabe put water in the sensory table for us to explore!
After playtime, we spent some time reviewing our colors. We read a silly story called Dog's Colorful Day. It was a great story to work on colors and counting! We will be doing more activities with this story all week as we work on reviewing colors. You can view the story below!
We had a little extra time in the afternoon to review our class books we made last week! We read the astronaut colors class book and our Pete the Cat class book!
We were also excited to use the SMART Board again today! Miss McCabe showed us how to move objects on the SMART Board. We practiced sorting pictures by whether or not they belong in outer space.
In the morning, we enjoyed playing outside. Ms. Behnke was especially popular. Everyone wanted to play catch with her!
Tomorrow is sure to also be a day full of fun! Have a great evening! :)
