Happy Monday! Our arrival activity today was making tooth fairy wands to use for a game tomorrow. We had to cut out a happy tooth and then attach it to a colorful paper towel tube. Then we used tooth sponges to paint our wands. Many of us got carried away and instead of stamping teeth shapes, we painted our entire wands white!
Then we played! There was some excitement in the morning because we had some visitors in our classroom working on mounting our SMART Board to the wall so we don't have to worry about bumping it.
During circle time, we learned that there are special germs that can get on our teeth. Brushing our teeth helps get rid of all those germs. However in the story, brushing didn't get rid of all those nasty plaque germs. Do you know how to get rid of those germs? You need to visit the dentist!
During centers, Ms. Palmer played a game with us. We had to roll the dice. If we rolled a cavity, we had to move to the dentist. If not, we got to move ahead along the path of healthy foods for our teeth. This game took a long time so Ms. Palmer did not make it through the last group, but I promised the last group that they would get to play the game tomorrow.
We also sorted pictures independently by whether or not they were healthy for our teeth.
Some of us also played a tooth letter game with Miss McCabe.
We also met our new feely phonic friend, Queen q, and learned all sorts of words that start with Qq. Many of these words were new to us, such as quail and quartz.
We also practiced brushing our teeth with a prop while learning a new song. You can listen to it below.
Here are a couple more songs.
Please remember that tomorrow is our last day of 4K this week due to parent-teacher conferences. Therefore we will be doing book check-out tomorrow.
Have a great evening!
