We played. In the morning, many chose to play in the Queen of Hearts Valentine Shop. We enjoyed giving valentines and other gifts to our friends!
During circle time, we read The Rainbow Fish. Click below to listen to the story!
We talked about how important it is to be a good friend and share. Everybody listened to different scenarios and we talked about whether the characters were being good friends or not.
During centers everybody got a chance to practice sharing their sparkly scales, just like the Rainbow Fish learned to do! We each had a fish and had to draw a card. Then we identified the number on it. If there was a "plus" in front of the number, we counted that many sparkly scales onto our fish. If there was a "minus" in front of the number, we gave (or shared) that many sparkly scales with a friend. It was a lot of fun!
Ms. Palmer played letter bingo with some of us.
Some of us also played a "Race to the X" number game and did the letter Xx pokey pinning. Mr. Wolfenberg, our assistant principal, even came in and played the "Race to the X" number game with us in the morning!
We also graphed our favorite ocean animal on the SMART Board. The shark was the clear winner in the afternoon, while there was no clear winner in the morning session.
Then we went to the table and drew our favorite ocean animals in our journals while Miss McCabe came around and helped us sound out the beginning sounds.
Have a great weekend! :)
