We were so excited about all of the snow today! For our arrival activity, we worked on our fine motor skills by trying to color our North Wind nursery rhyme within the lines.
Then we went to the carpet and reviewed what we learned about polar bears. We read another story about polar bears that helped us learn more new and interesting facts about polar bears. Did you know that polar bears eat seals, walruses, salmon, seaweed, and even birds?!
We learned about camouflage too. In the story we read, we learned that ice foxes like to eat polar bear cubs. We tried to use camouflage to hide our polar bears so the ice foxes would not find them! First we cut out our polar bear and glued it onto blue paper. Then we had to use our strong muscles in our hands to tear white paper and glue it on to camouflage the polar bears. It was hard work!
Look at how well we camouflaged our polar bears!
We also reviewed letters while playing a polar bear iceberg board game. Many of us are still struggling with letter identification. It would be a great idea to continue to practice identifying letters at home.
Then we made jello together! We were excited to realize that jello starts with the letter Jj! On Thursday, we will cut out letter Jj jello jigglers to eat for snack! We can't wait!
We played. In the morning, many chose to pretend to be cats. In the afternoon, Uno was a popular game to play.
In the afternoon, we also heard about Brownie's adventures from the weekend.
We also learned that we will be getting a new friend in our classroom in the afternoon sometime next week. Everybody is very excited! We talked about ways to make our new friend feel welcome.
Have a great "home" day tomorrow!
