The Hat

Happy Friday!  We completed our arrival activities at school today and then had some playtime since it was a "backwards" day.

During circle time, we read The Hat by Jan Brett.  You can listen to the story by clicking below.

Miss McCabe explained a hat family project that we can do together at home!  We have to decorate a hat for one of the animals from the story since they had to pretend that other items of clothing were their hats!  Miss McCabe is excited to see which animal everybody will choose to make a hat for!

We practiced rhyming with colored mittens today.  Rhyming is tricky!

During centers, we played hat letter bingo with Miss McCabe.  You can play it at home too!  Just use blocks, cereal, or m&m's as bingo markers.  It would be a great game to play together to practice identifying uppercase letters!

Ms. Palmer made a color mitten counting book with some students.

Some of us also played a mitten number memory game.

We enjoyed visiting independent centers too!

Mrs. Garlieb volunteered in the afternoon and helped paint our feet for an upcoming project!  The morning session will get a chance to have their feet painted sometime in the near future.

Many of us also enjoyed visiting with our feely phonic friends!

In the morning session, we read a silly story about a boy who did not want to wear his snowsuit.  It was funny!  You can watch it by clicking below.

In the afternoon session, Jay J. brought a special book to share with us called Winter is the Warmest Season.  It was a very thought-provoking book as one would not think about winter as being warm.  However the book helped us realize ways that winter is warm!  Thanks for sharing your book with us, Jay J.!

Have a great weekend! :)
