Then we played. The sensory table was in high demand again.
We also began working on making our special T-shirts. This will be a long process that will take a couple of weeks!
During circle time, we learned about clouds. Did you know that a cloud is made up of tiny drops of water? We also learned that there are different types of clouds.
We did an experiment together to learn why it rains. First we filled a jar with water. Then we put a shaving cream cloud on top. Next we chose what color "raindrops" we wanted to fill our cloud with. As I dropped on the food coloring raindrops, we watched the cloud fill up. When it got full, it started raining into the jar! We saw the food coloring raindrops falling down into the jar! It was so neat! Of course everyone wanted to see what would happen if we added different colors of raindrops. We got to see how the colors mixed to make new colors! It was a lot of fun!
We made our own rain clouds to hang up at school. This involved sewing the clouds together, stuffing them with newspaper, and attaching streamers.
We also talked about how clouds may take on different shapes while reading a story about a cloud that kept forming new pictures, such as of a sheep, shark, and clown.
We also read another story that showed pictures of different items, but they all were really clouds.
During centers, we made our own "spilt milk" pictures to go along with the story. We used a spoon to drizzle white paint on our paper. Then we folded it in half and rubbed. When we opened up our paper, there was a neat design. We then told what we thought our "cloud" looked like.
In the afternoon, we wrote in shaving cream "clouds." Our classroom smelled nice afterwards!
We also played outside.
In the afternoon, we took a walk on the walking trail. Several children came away with huge bouquets of dandelions!
The children are very excited to start our zoo unit on Monday! Don't forget to wear red on Monday! Have a great weekend! :)
