As we finished our zebra Zz's, we spent some time looking at Zoobook magazines. There were very neat pictures of all different types of animals!
There was a collective groan when it was time to put away the Zoobooks! Zookeeper Bob helped us learn some facts about zebras. Did you know that no two zebras have the same stripes? Their stripes are unique, just like our fingerprints!
We looked at the zebra page in a neat book. The book helped us see the little hairs around the zebra's mouth. We learned that these little whiskers help the zebras to find food.
During circle time, we also read a story about a lazy zebra. The zookeepers tried all sorts of different things to try to get the zebra to stop sleeping all day. This book was full of different words beginning with the letter Zz.
While playing a "What's Missing? Zebra" game, we learned vocabulary words for different parts of a zebra, such as hooves and mane.
We made our own stick zebras today! First we had to sew together the zebra head. Next we decorated it on both sides. Then we stuffed it and attached a paper towel tube stick.
Of course we had to try out our stick zebras! We went to the gym and practiced galloping with them. Then we played a game where the zebras had to try to gallop away from the lion that was chasing them. It was a lot of fun!
After snack, we played. There are no playtime pictures again because Miss McCabe was working with individual children on our special T-shirts!
To end our day, we played outside.
Remember that book orders are due tomorrow! This is the last order for the school year! Tomorrow is also purple day! Have a great evening!
