S-S-Snakes!

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a nice break!  Today we learned all about snakes.  While reviewing the letter Ss, we cut out an S and made it into a snake!

We learned that snakes use their tongues to smell.  They also swallow their prey whole!  Did you know snakes are reptiles?  They rely on the heat of the sun to help them control their body temperature.  We read some stories about snakes.

While working on number recognition and counting, we worked together to make a giant snake!  It was almost as long as our classroom!

During centers, we made our own very large snakes.  Then we reviewed our shapes while decorating our snakes.

We also worked on patterning while making a snake stripes booklet.  Some of the children were very excited that they could read the color words all by themselves! :)

Today we celebrated some summer birthdays so we ate special birthday treats for snack.  We also got out the birthday box during playtime.

Today was the day that we finally got to peek inside the chrysalis to see if the caterpillars we made turned into butterflies.  Guess what?!  They did turn into butterflies!  We were very excited!

To end the day, we played outside.

Have a great evening!  I will see everyone again on Thursday!
