We made our own kicking Kk's for our alphabet books!
Zookeeper Bob helped us to learn about kangaroos. Do you know what a marsupial is? We learned what that is! See if your child can tell you! We also learned that other animals, such as koalas and wombats, are also marsupials. Tomorrow we will make a special marsupial pocket snack to eat!
We even read a story called Marsupial Sue. It was about a kangaroo that did not like being a kangaroo. She tried to be like other animals, but discovered in the end that it was better to be who she really is. The story introduced us to other animals, such as wallabies, koalas, and even a platypus!
Do you know how far some kangaroos can jump? They can jump up to 30 feet! We measured out a piece of yarn that was 30 feet and then spread it across our classroom to see how far it was. The yarn went from the calendar bulletin board all the way to our mailboxes across the classroom. We could hardly believe that they can jump that far!
Did you know that Miss McCabe spent some time teaching in Australia? The children could not believe that I actually got to pet a kangaroo at a zoo. They also didn't believe that I got to see wild kangaroos.
We worked on matching upper and lowercase letters with Ms. Palmer today during centers. After learning a rhyme, we had to help each joey find its matching mom.
We also played a kangaroo rhyming memory game with a friend. Memory is so much fun to play!
We also played. There are no playtime pictures again as we are still working on our special T-shirts!
We also enjoyed the beautiful weather outside! Everyone loves practicing for kindergarten and having the entire playground available to them to play instead of being limited to just one portion of the playground!
Have a great evening! :)
