Jungle Frogs

Happy Friday!  Today was a "backwards day" schedule so we started off our day by writing in our journals about where we were going to play today.

Then we played!  We love starting off our day with playtime!

During circle time, we wrote our daily message together and went on a hunt for letters in our message.

We learned about the differences between a frog and toad.  See if your child can tell you the difference!

Everybody was also excited to learn that some frogs do not live in the pond!  There are frogs that live in the jungle or rainforest.  We learned that frogs in the jungle or rainforest can be many different bright colors while pond frogs are green.  Then we read a book about different types of frogs and enjoyed looking at the pictures of a variety of frogs!

During center time, we cut out our own jungle/rainforest frogs.  Then we used a special paint that was extra sticky and shiny to paint our frogs.  We were excited to choose what bright colors to use for our frogs!  Since the theme of the upcoming Sock Hop is a jungle theme, we are saving our jungle frogs to use as decorations in the gym on the Sock Hop night!

We also played a lily pad memory game with Miss McCabe.  It was a little tricky because we had to match uppercase letters with lowercase letters so the game had 26 matches to find.  A challenge is always good! :)

Ms. Palmer played a frog letter game with some us too!  This game focused on just a few, specific letters each of us need to work on.

Then we shared our mystery bags by giving clues.  Once the item was guessed, we identified its beginning letter and located the letter on our letter wall.

In the morning session, we also did the counting jar.  Everyone loves when there is food in the counting jar! :)

Since it was rainy outside, we ended our day with songs and dancing!  We learned the Chicken Dance so we know at least one of the songs/dances for the Sock Hop night!  Other songs we did included "The Itsy Bitsy Spider," "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes," "Turn Around," and "Touch."  The song "Touch" had us laughing really hard because it made us do silly things like touch our nose to our toes, touch our toes to our toes, and put our elbow on our knee!

Have a great weekend!
