One Duck Stuck

We started off our day by making duck puppets.

In the morning, we wrote our daily message and found all the letter y's.

Then we used our duck puppets to help read the story.  The puppets helped chime in whenever the duck said, "Help! Help! Who can help?" in the story.  It was a great story for counting and rhyming!  We loved hearing the rhyming words.  Do you know how all the animals got the duck unstuck from the muck?  See if your child can tell you!  Here's a clue - it took a lot of teamwork.  We love using teamwork at school!

Next we each got a duck.  We sorted them by whether or not they started with the /d/ sound.  Those that started with the /d/ sound got to go in a pond shaped like the letter D.

During centers, we got a chance to independently sort ducks by whether or not the pictures on them started with the /d/ sound.

We also played a rhyming duck memory game with Miss McCabe.  Everyone was excited to get to take their very own rhyming duck game home too!  They all thought they could win against their moms and dads at home! :)

Some of us also played a pop and win letter bingo game.

After snack, we played in the classroom.

Then we shared our yellow mystery bags to reinforce that y is for yellow.  There were all sorts of neat yellow items - daffodils, a giraffe, banana, yellow ice cream, mustard, and so much more!

In the afternoon, we played outside.

Have a good evening!
