During circle time, we have been writing a daily message together about what we are going to do during the day. Today Miss McCabe gave everyone a dry erase board and we wrote along with Miss McCabe. It was a lot of fun! We even went on a letter hunt to find all of the letter Tt's. There were 5 of them in our message today!
We read a turtle story by Dr. Seuss called Yertle the Turtle. Then we talked about how Dr. Seuss was silly to make all the turtles in his story blue. We looked at some pictures of turtles and talked about the colors on their shells. Then we talked about why a turtle's shell is important. We learned that it protects the turtle from predators, helps keep them safe from bad weather, provides shade from the sun, and is a home.
During centers, we made our own turtles using realistic turtle colors like greens and browns. Then we made shells to put on our stand-up turtles while continuing to discuss why a turtle's shell is so important.
Some of us also played a turtle number recognition game with Miss McCabe.
We also played.
Next we read a turtle counting story.
Then we did the counting jar.
To end our day, we played outside! Please remember to send in snow pants and boots even if there is no snow. The ground outside is muddy from rain and melting snow. We need the snow pants and boots to keep our clothes protected from the mud and moisture. If your child does not have snow pants or boots, he/she will need to stay on the blacktop.
Have a great evening! :)
